ASUS ROG STRIX B550-A GAMING
The ASUS ROG STRIX B550-A gaming motherboard with the AMD B550 chipset forms the foundation of gaming PCs built on the AM4 platform. It supports 3rd, 4th, and 5th generation AMD Ryzen processors and DDR4 RAM with frequencies up to 4800MHz in OC mode, thanks to OptiMem II technology. The ATX form factor provides extensive options for installing additional cards and components. The board uses the PCIe 4.0 interface for the main graphics slot and one of the M.2 slots. This interface delivers high transfer speeds for graphics cards and NVMe SSDs. Several features make PC building easier. The pre-mounted I/O shield simplifies installing the board into the case. Q-LED diagnostic lights indicate the status of the processor, memory, graphics card, or boot device. The BIOS FlashBack function supports BIOS updates without needing to install a processor or memory, using only a USB drive and a power supply.

Power and cooling
The 12+2 phase power delivery supplies stable voltage to AMD Ryzen processors even under heavy load. It uses alloy chokes, durable capacitors, and a reinforced ProCool connector for reliable power delivery. The cooling system includes passive heatsinks on the VRM, chipset, and both M.2 slots. This combination maintains low operating temperatures for key components and contributes to the stability of the entire system. The board also includes fan connectors and a header for connecting AIO liquid cooling. For expansion, there are two 4-pin RGB headers and one addressable Gen 2 RGB header for connecting LED strips and other lighting elements.
Fast storage and board connectivity
For storage, there are two M.2 slots supporting lengths up to 22110. The first slot supports the PCIe 4.0 x4 standard, while the second supports PCIe 3.0 x4. Both slots support NVM Express RAID for increased performance. The board also offers six SATA III ports for connecting hard drives and SSDs. The rear panel includes USB 3.2 Gen 2 ports in both Type-A and Type-C, and an internal connector for Thunderbolt. The ROG GameFirst VI software optimises network traffic by using AI to identify applications and prioritise gaming data packets. The Armoury Crate tool then centralises the management of RGB lighting, driver downloads, and other system settings.
SupremeFX gaming audio and network card
Audio output is handled by the SupremeFX S1220A codec with a 113dB signal-to-noise ratio, complemented by Nichicon Japanese capacitors. The technology includes shielding against electromagnetic interference and dual op-amps for the headphone output, which can drive headphones with an impedance of 32–600Ω. The software suite includes Sonic Studio III and DTS Sound Unbound for sound customisation. The AI Noise-Cancelling Microphone function filters out ambient noise during voice communication. The board integrates an Intel I225-V network chip with a speed of 2.5Gb/s. This speed reduces latency in online gaming and shortens transfer times for large files.
