The latest Intel Compute Card mini computer continues the successful miniature PC trend, along with its Compute Stick hardware cousin. The core concept of this device is different, however. The goal is to turn the Intel Compute Card into a universal module that can create a full-fledged piece of smart technology when combined with another device. The Mini PC is shaped for the purpose, featuring a smooth metal case similar to a credit card and a special connector. If you connect it to a TV or monitor, you instantly get a Smart TV or All-In-One PC. The device does not include an operating system, but it’s fully compatible with Windows 10 or Linux.
On the hardware side, the Compute Card CD1C64GK features an Intel Pentium N4200 quad-core processor based on Apollo Lake architecture. It comes with 4GB of RAM and a 64GB eMMC disk for data storage. All connectivity is provided by a USB-C port and wireless WiFi AC with Bluetooth 4.2. Additional connectivity can be provided by adapters. The Mini PC has minimal power consumption, so it doesn’t need anything more than just passive cooling.
