Death on the tongue

The fugitive Roman tribune Cola di Rienzo arrives in Prague to persuade Europe's most powerful monarch, Charles IV. on the need to restore a united Italy. The Roman and Czech kings are tempted by the idea, but the Archbishop of Prague, Arnošt of Pardubice, advises caution. Despite his warnings, Charles sets off incognito for Italy, but if it had not been for his mentor, the Dominican Paul, this trip could have been almost fatal for him. For half a year he disappears from everyone's sight and staggers between life and death. Even his second wife, Anna Falcká, is not allowed to join him. Especially since some suspect she tried to poison the king?
