Onimusha: Way of the Sword Xbox Series X|S
Onimusha: Way of the Sword will draw you into a dark and bloody story set in Japan's Edo period Kyoto. Prepare for intense sword fights where every blow is a matter of life and death. Each mission is packed with mystery, danger, and suspense.
In the Skin of a Samurai
Playing as a samurai, you embark on a journey of vengeance and discovery. Your only ally is the Oni Gauntlet, a mystical artefact that grants you superhuman strength. Thanks to it, you can stand up to the creatures from the underworld known as Genma, which threaten not only you but the very flow of history itself.
A Path of Wrath, Courage, and Inner Peace
Onimusha is not just about combat, it is also a spiritual journey. Where does true strength lie? In anger, courage, or inner peace? You will find the answer to this question at the end of a path that leads you through a world full of demons, intrigue, and Japanese mysticism.
SAMURAI
Inspired by a Real Japanese Actor
Miyamoto Musashi is the main protagonist of Onimusha: Way of the Sword Xbox Series X|S. A young, determined, and fiery samurai, he arrives in Kyoto with a single goal: to prove that he is second to none in the art of swordsmanship. However, his path to glory soon takes an unexpected turn, full of dark trials, supernatural forces, and internal dilemmas. Capcom has brought this character to life not only through the story and game mechanics, but also visually, with Musashi's face inspired by the legendary Japanese actor Toshiro Mifune, an icon of samurai cinema. This makes Musashi feel not just like a relentless warrior, but also a tribute to the classic Japanese hero, whose strength is as great as his honour.
DEMONS
Genma are created to kill and devour all living things
Genma are terrifying demons from the depths of hell, brought into the world of the living by the dark miasma enveloping Kyoto. This otherworldly evil has torn the boundary between life and death, allowing demons to flood the streets of the once peaceful city. Their presence has brought only pain and fear; massacres, attacks, and constant threats have turned Kyoto into a nightmare. Among these beasts, the Hitotsume-gumo stand out, one-eyed demons who attack in merciless packs with weapons in hand. Whether they are wielding a sword, firing arrows, or hiding behind a shield, their sole purpose is to kill and devour all living things. They are driven only by primitive instincts, with no emotion, no goal, other than the desire to spread death.
GAUNTLET
A Soul-Absorbing Artefact
The action in Onimusha: Way of the Sword Xbox Series X|S revolves around Musashi and his mysterious Oni Gauntlet, an artefact that grants him superhuman strength and makes him the terror of the demonic Genma. The gauntlet is a tool of destruction, but also the key to a deeper understanding of the dark force that is descending upon the world of men. It allows him to absorb the souls of defeated enemies, which not only enhances Musashi's abilities but also reveals something far more sinister. With each soul absorbed, a mysterious voice seems to be released from the gauntlet—whispering, urgent, perhaps even a warning. Who or what is speaking to him? Is it a guide, a curse, or perhaps the voice of the Oni itself? This question weaves its way through the entire game.
KYOTO
The Spiritual Purity of Japan in Darkness
The scenery in Onimusha: Way of the Sword Xbox Series X|S plays a key role in building the game's atmosphere. The story takes place in historic Kyoto, a city renowned for its magnificent shrines and temples, with the iconic Kiyomizu-dera forming one of its visual and symbolic highlights. In the game, however, this spiritual centre of Japan has been transformed into a dark and terrifying place infested with a miasma that, like a poison, decays not only the streets and buildings, but also human souls themselves. Famous landmarks are reduced to ruins, sacred spaces are desecrated, and the natural beauty radiates unease. Every step through the streets of Kyoto is accompanied by a chilling uncertainty; a Genma, or something even worse, could be lurking around the corner. The contrast between the spiritual purity of traditional Japan and its sudden fall into darkness creates a powerful and visually impressive setting.
