This elegant coffee is grown by Nabwaya farmer Stephen on the slopes of Mount Elgon volcano in the Bududa area, which is full of waterfalls with crystal clear water. Touring his farm, we first climbed down the cliff and clawed our way back up through the red dirt. We were surrounded by bouncing children, who must have thought we were funny, because every now and then they pointed their fingers at us and shouted: "Mzunguuu..." They then burst into boisterous laughter. Nabwaya Stephen is one of the young progressive farmers. He understands very well that only the best have a chance. The coffee bushes, shaded by the broad bright green leaves of the banana trees, are perfectly cared for. He explained how challenging it is to grow coffee at the moment and showed us the supply of red pepper he uses for spraying insects. He refuses any chemistry.
