Ballpoint pens - standard pens that dispense ink over a metal ball and are designed for writing on paper. Suitable for everyday use and cost only a few pounds.
Gel pens - rollerball pens that use gelled ink. Compared to ballpoint pens, less pressure needs to be applied to the pen to have it write clearly. They also tend to have a rubberised ergonomic grip.
Other stationery
Highlighters - as the name suggests, they are used to highlight text passages.
Markers - special pens capable of writing on various surfaces. Often used for writing on CD, DVD, and Blu-ray discs or on magnetic whiteboards.
