Riboflavin 5'-phosphate is the active form of vitamin B2 (riboflavin). This form is more bioavailable and is more easily utilized by the body compared to free riboflavin. Riboflavin 5'-phosphate is often used in dietary supplements and pharmaceutical preparations. Riboflavin 5'-phosphate is synthesized by chemical phosphorylation of riboflavin. This process involves adding a phosphate group to riboflavin to form its active form.
