Young barley

This green food is rich in various vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and other bioactive substances. Young barley in dietary supplements offers a synergistic effect thanks to the unique nutritional profiles of each of its ingredients. Young barley is a young plant of barley, which was already used by our great-grandmothers. Only the green shoot is harvested from the plant. This is because the barley plant contains the highest amount of biologically active substances. Barley contains chlorophyll, iron, folic acid and vitamin C. Young barley contains 4 times more calcium than milk, 22 times more iron than spinach. It also contains essential amino acids, more than 12 minerals and 13 different vitamins (including vitamin K). It is thanks to this composition that young barley has become very popular in recent years among consumers who are oriented towards an active lifestyle. GreenFood Nutrition Young Barley is gluten-free.

Spirulina

It is a microscopic freshwater cyanobacteria that naturally contains higher amounts of important nutrients and phytonutrients. In addition, the nutrients provided by Spirulina are better absorbed by the body. It contains, among other things, vitamins B1, B2, B3, B6, B9, vitamin C, vitamin D, vitamin A and vitamin E, carotenes and high chlorophyll content. Chlorophyll is fat-soluble and gives plants their typical colour. In our diet, chlorophyll is, among other things, an important and rich source of magnesium. The intake of spirulina is very suitable for vegans because it is also a rich source of iron.

Chlorella

This green food is rich in various vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and other bioactive substances. Chlorella in dietary supplements offers a synergistic effect thanks to the unique nutritional profiles of each of its components. Chlorella is a microscopic unicellular algae that occurs in clusters or singly in both salt and fresh water. It is a typical green food that comes from Asia, where it is highly valued for its high protein content and a wide range of other nutrients. Chlorella is one of the most complex food sources in the world. It naturally contains a wide range of nutrients and phytonutrients (amino acids, chlorophyll, beta-carotene, potassium, phosphorus, biotin, magnesium, vitamin B) and has the highest chlorophyll content of any plant on Earth. Chlorophyll is fat-soluble and gives plants their typical colour. In our diet, chlorophyll is an important and abundant source of magnesium, whose functions include hundreds of enzymatic processes in the body. Its intake is essential for vegans as it is a rich source of iron.

Methionine and cysteine

Produced by fermentation from corn, they represent a modern method of producing these important amino acids. Their high purity and quality make them an ideal choice for those looking for quality dietary supplements. Methionine and cysteine are essential amino acids that play a key role in many biological processes in the body. Both of these amino acids contain sulfur, which makes them important for the synthesis of proteins and other biologically active molecules.

Reishi and ling zhi

Two different names for the same mushroom species. While "reishi" is the Japanese name, "ling zhi" is used in the Chinese language. Reishi has been used in China and Japan for many millennia. Reishi (Ganoderma lucidum) is a wood-destroying fungus that grows on dead trees or stumps. In traditional China, Reishi was considered so rare that it was only for the imperial family. Reishi contains a wide range of bioactive compounds. These include essential amino acids, B vitamins, minerals such as selenium and iron, germanium, polysaccharides, triterpenes and others. When a dietary supplement with Reishi states that it contains 30% polysaccharides, this means that almost one third of the content of the Reishi mushroom extract is made up of polysaccharides. Polysaccharides are long chains of carbohydrate molecules that have different biological properties.

Shiitake

Also known as Edible mushroom (Lentinula edodes), it is a species of mushroom native to Japan. It has been very popular in this area for thousands of years. There are records of Shiitake dating back to 2000 years ago. In Japan, shiitake is often called the "elixir of life" because of its polysaccharide fiber content, a natural source of β-glucans (lentinans), erythadenine and the content of vitamins B2, B6 and D, provitamin D2, copper, selenium, pantothenic acid, zinc and manganese. When a Shiitake dietary supplement states that it contains 30% polysaccharides, this means that almost one third of the content of the Shiitake mushroom extract is made up of polysaccharides. Polysaccharides are long chains of carbohydrate molecules that have different biological properties.

Acerola

Malpighia emarginata is a tropical shrub or small tree native to the Caribbean, Central and South America. The fruit of the acerola, often called the Barbados cherry or West Indian cherry, is a small, red berry. Acerola is one of the richest natural sources of vitamin C. The vitamin C content of acerola fruits is much higher than that of oranges and other citrus fruits. In addition to vitamin C, acerola berries contain other bioactive compounds such as carotenoids, anthocyanins and flavonoids that can synergistically promote the effects of vitamin C. Vitamin C from natural sources such as acerola is often better absorbed by the body than synthetic forms of vitamin C.

Rutin

It belongs to the bioflavonoid glycosides. It is found in a variety of plants, most commonly in high concentrations in the buds and flowers of Japanese cranesbill (Sophora japonica). Rutin is known for its biological properties. Bioflavonoids are substances that give flavour and colour to some fruits and vegetables. It can be found in apple peel, buckwheat, romaine, citrus fruits and black tea.

Zinc bisglycinate

It is a chelated form of the mineral zinc, where zinc is bound to two molecules of the amino acid glycine. This form of chelate is designed to improve the absorption and bioavailability of zinc in the body. Chelation is the process by which a mineral is bound to an organic molecule, allowing for better transport and utilization of that mineral in the body. By being bound to two glycine molecules, zinc forms a stable chelate complex. This structure protects zinc from interactions with other substances in the digestive tract that could reduce its absorption. It is a popular choice for zinc supplementation precisely because of its high absorption and gentleness to the stomach. Zinc bisglycinate is most commonly available in dietary supplements in the form of capsules to ensure accurate dosing. Zinc bisglycinate is highly absorbable. This form of zinc is gentle on the stomach and causes fewer side effects compared to inorganic forms of zinc. Zinc bisglycinate provides higher bioavailability, which means the body can use this mineral more efficiently.

Selenium Lalmin®

It is a specially formulated dietary supplement that contains salen enriched in yeast. Lalmin® is a trademark of Lallemand, a company specialising in biotechnology and yeast production. This product is designed to provide an affordable source of selenium, which is essential for a variety of bodily functions. The yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae, known for its nutritional properties, is used to produce Selen Lalmin®. The yeast is grown under controlled conditions on a nutrient medium rich in sugars, minerals and other nutrients. During cultivation, selenium in the form of sodium selenite is added to the culture medium. The yeast absorbs this selenium and incorporates it into its cellular structure. This process is called "biofortification". The yeast continues to grow and ferment, during which it is further enriched with selenium.

Glycine

It is an amino acid and therefore part of protein and yet it has a sweet taste. Glycine is one of the 20 amino acids that the body uses to make the body's proteins, which then make up our organs, joints and muscles. It is the second most abundant amino acid in human enzymes and proteins and therefore plays a key role in all organ systems of the body. Glycine makes up approximately 35% of the amino acids contained in collagen. Collagen is one of the most important proteins in the human body, it is the basic building block of many parts of the body and plays a vital role in providing structure and strength to various tissues. This key protein is made up of chains of amino acids, among which glycine is of particular importance. Glycine is the smallest and simplest amino acid, which allows it to bind easily and form strong, stable collagen structures. Thanks to its simplicity and flexibility, glycine helps collagen maintain its strength and elasticity, which underlines the importance of glycine in biological processes. Glycine is a non-essential amino acid that the body can make on its own, but only in limited amounts.

Steviol glycosides

They are obtained from the leaves of the sweet Stevia (Stevia rebaudiana) plant, which is valued for its high sweetness. Unlike sugar, steviol glycosides as a sweetener are almost calorie-free, have a low glycaemic index and do not contribute to tooth decay. Foods with a lower glycaemic index raise blood sugar levels more slowly, which is particularly beneficial for overweight and weight-reduction diets, but also for normal fitness.
