ASUS Hyper M.2 x16 Gen5 Card

ASUS Hyper M.2 x16 Gen5 Card
The ASUS Hyper M.2 x16 Gen5 Card expands the storage capacity and performance of professional workstations by integrating four NVMe M.2 drive slots. It fully leverages the potential of the PCIe 5.0 x16 interface, which provides a total throughput of up to 512Gbps for data-intensive operations. This solution is aimed at professionals working with 8K video editing, complex 3D rendering, or large dataset analysis. The card supports 2242, 2260, 2280, and 22110 drive formats and is built on a server-grade PCB for stable transfers.
Key features of the ASUS Hyper M.2 x16 Gen5 Card controller
- PCIe 5.0 x16 interface offers a total throughput of up to 512Gbps
- Active cooling combines a passive heatsink with a fan
- The controller accommodates four NVMe M.2 drives of various formats
- Supplies up to 14W of power to each connected drive
- RAID functionality requires PCIe bifurcation support in the BIOS
- Server-grade printed circuit board design
Controller transfer speed
The card installs into a PCIe 5.0 x16 slot and communicates with the motherboard without any speed limitations, with the interface offering double the bandwidth per lane compared to PCIe 4.0. The server-grade, low-loss printed circuit board supports stable data transfer even at full load across all four connected drives. This technical solution is ideal for builds that need to process large volumes of data in real time.
Cooling and stable operation
To maintain optimal operating temperatures, the controller uses a large passive heatsink that covers all M.2 drives. This heatsink is complemented by an integrated fan for active heat dissipation, which prevents drive performance throttling during prolonged and intensive loads. The cooling system thus maintains consistent storage performance.
Power and RAID on the ASUS Hyper M.2 x16 Gen5 Card
Power is supplied by a single 6-pin PCIe connector. The two-phase solution delivers up to 14W of power to each M.2 slot, which is sufficient for power-hungry Gen5 SSDs. The card supports the creation of a bootable RAID array from the connected drives, but this feature requires PCIe bifurcation support in the motherboard's BIOS. The controller accommodates drives in 2242, 2260, 2280, and 22110 formats.
