Ubiquiti UniFi Protect UNVR Instant

The Ubiquiti UniFi Protect Network Video Recorder Instant is used for storing and managing video recordings from security cameras on a local network. This compact desktop system integrates a switch with PoE power and an interface for direct video monitoring. The device processes video from high-resolution cameras and provides centralised storage for UniFi Protect camera systems. To operate, it requires a connection to a Layer 3 gateway or switch that assigns IP addresses to end devices.

Camera Management

The device can handle up to 6 cameras with 4K resolution or 15 cameras with Full HD resolution. Users can manage recordings, watch live feeds, and configure the parameters of connected detectors. The integrated Quad-core ARM Cortex-A55 processor, running at 1.7GHz, ensures smooth processing of multiple video streams simultaneously without any drop in performance. Management is handled via the UniFi Protect software interface, which offers a clear environment for administering the entire camera system.

Network Connectivity, Integrated PoE Switch and Local Display via HDMI

The device includes one Gigabit RJ-45 uplink port for connecting to the main network. It also offers six Gigabit RJ-45 downlink ports with PoE support for directly powering cameras. The total PoE budget for connected devices is 40W, with a maximum draw of 15.4W per port. This concept simplifies cabling, as a single Ethernet cable is sufficient for both power and data transmission for each camera. The integrated HDMI port serves as a Viewport for displaying camera feeds directly on a monitor or television. Users can configure screen layouts in the Protect application and watch live events without needing to connect a separate computer. The device supports displaying up to six simultaneous 4K streams on a connected screen. This feature makes it easy to set up a monitoring station directly at the security post.

Access System

In addition to camera surveillance, this device also supports the UniFi Access platform for entry control. Users can manage up to 50 access hubs and control door locks from a single application. The system links visual verification with physical access to the building, which increases the level of building security. Administrators thus have an immediate overview of people's movements and the status of individual entry points.

Drive Support and Data Storage

Data is stored on a single 3.5" HDD or SSD, which is inserted into the internal bay. The system requires a drive with a minimum capacity of 1TB with CMR recording technology. For optimal performance, the manufacturer recommends a drive with a speed of 7,200 RPM. The internal design supports drives with a maximum power consumption of up to 11W, while the recording device itself consumes a maximum of 9W.

Third-Party Camera Integration

The device is compatible with cameras from other manufacturers thanks to its support for the ONVIF standard, which makes it easier to migrate from older camera systems to the UniFi Protect platform without needing to change existing hardware. Users can easily integrate compatible third-party cameras into a unified interface alongside original Ubiquiti cameras. The device meets the requirements of the NDAA standard for use in projects with enhanced security demands.
