OLED Display

OLED (Organic Light-Emitting Diode)

OLED panels are made from organic, carbon-based materials that emit light when electricity is applied to them. Because they do not require a backlight or filters, they are more efficient, simpler to make, and can be much thinner than LCD displays. On the other hand, the electroluminescent diodes wear out relatively quickly. In fact, these premium monitors often last half the time of LCD monitors.

OLED displays are divided into two basic groups:

  • PMOLED - with a simpler design, they are often used for smaller displays; ideal for displaying static information or text.
  • AMOLED - a more complex structure and thus more expensive; suitable for displaying sophisticated graphics
