Developers designed a system of movement that allows you to choose how you want to get around in the open mountain environment. You can cross the peaks on your skis or choose a snowboard to take a little shortcut between the trees. You can also go by wingsuit, parachute, or even by paraglider.

Steep will offer you a variety of modes that can be completed and unlocked. The Explorer style tasks players to explore the world to discover new challenges and locations, while the Freestyler mode focuses on your tricks' precision and accuracy. The Bone Collector playstyle rewards players for performing ridiculous stunts and crashing. The last playstyle, Freerider, is described as a mix of all the three playstyles, in which players would be rewarded if they explore the world, perform accurate tricks and take risks to perform dangerous stunts.
