I'd rather choose a different kettle. Definitely another manufacturer. Even though it's all made by China anyway. Alza sorted it out quickly. The complaint was a replacement.

The first time I turned it on, the kettle didn't work.

The blue light that shines through the water bubbles is pleasant and watching the kettle boil is a treat. A minor drawback is that it shuts off after a few seconds after reaching a boil. If you were buying it for an elderly person, you need to take into account that being glass makes it a little heavier. And that pressing the button to open the lid requires a bit of force, but it's nothing that a normal pensioner can't handle. Otherwise, the kettle is great!
