The water from the kettle simply cannot be used because of the smell and aftertaste. It's been boiled about ten times.

Something awful. The lid, which is made of plastic, smells horribly like when they clean with Lysol in the hospital. When boiling, the precipitated steam on the inside of the lid gets back into the kettle and contaminates the water. Awesome.
