info

System type

A soundbar can be either active or passive. Active systems have their own amplifier, so you don't need to worry about anything else. In contrast, passive speakers require an external amplifier to function, from which the sound is then sent to the individual speakers.
info

Number of channels

The number of channels a soundbar has is undoubtedly a key parameter on the path to high-quality listening. This property refers to the number of independent audio signals that can be reproduced simultaneously. An example is two-channel stereo sound, where each channel represents one ear. A classic TV soundbar is installed under the television screen and broadcasts sound only from the front, but more complex techniques can simulate multi-channel (4/5/7.1) speaker sets to create surround sound. If the device includes real rear speakers, the spatial localisation is almost always more faithful and accurate.
