Tablets are highly popular nowadays, but they are hardly ideal for writing longer texts. The new Microsoft Surface Book looks like an ordinary notebook at first glance, but appearances can be deceiving. It has a premium display, detachable from the keyboard. Microsoft Surface Book has a good chance to become an absolute legend in the hardware field.
Microsoft Surface Book features a familiar 2v1 system, where the display is detachable from the keyboard and can be rotated 180 degrees when connected. Everything is handled by a smartly designed hinge called Muscle Wire. To remove the display you have to press a button, but otherwise the display is firmly attached and won’t even budge.
The tablet is basically one large 13.5" screen with an impressive 3000 x 2000 resolution and 267 ppi. Controlling such a large screen space is made easier thanks to the included stylus, which can recognize up to 1024 levels of pressure. The screen surface is completely impervious to scratches.
The hardware equipment is as pleasing as it is unexpected. The latest Intel Skylake processors are complemented by a dedicated NVIDIA GPU, though specifics differ depending on the hardware configuration. An SSD takes care of the storage space, providing up to 1TB in capacity. Wireless connectivity is also fully featured - WiFi 802.11ac (2 × 2 MIMO) and Bluetooth 4.0. There are also two cameras with 8 Mpx (rear) and 5 Mpx (front) resolution.
All components are encased in a magnesium alloy chassis, which is the reason why the whole device weighs only 728 g.
The tablet itself can last about three hours on a single charge, but you can get up to 12 hours of video playback if you connect it to the keyboard dock. The keyboard has high-quality backlit keys and offers 1.6 mm of key travel and a really big touchpad with a glass surface, capable of capturing up to five touches simultaneously. On the left side there are two USB 3.0 ports and SD card reader, while the right side contains a mini DisplayPort and charging port.
