Levenhuk New Skyline Base Mak 80/850 AZ-M

The Levenhuk New Skyline BASE MAK 80/850 AZ-M telescope reveals the breathtaking beauty of the universe, even to beginner astronomers. Its Maksutov-Cassegrain optical design with an 80mm aperture and an 850mm focal length strikes the perfect balance between compactness and performance. The optics deliver a high-resolution, high-contrast image without chromatic aberration, allowing you to observe many of the most interesting objects in the universe.

Observation

This telescope is ideal for detailed study of the lunar surface – you can explore craters (like Tycho, Copernicus and Plato) and their ray systems, mountain ranges, dark maria, rilles, and capes. In good atmospheric conditions, you will be able to distinguish the disc of Jupiter and its main cloud belts. At magnifications above 80×, the famous Galilean moons appear as bright stars near the planet. Saturn reveals its rings. Although the telescope is designed for observing closer objects, it can also reveal nearby star clusters such as the Pleiades, the Beehive Cluster, and the Hyades as fields of twinkling points of light. For the best detail, it is advisable to observe away from city lights.

Correctly oriented "terrestrial" image

The advantage of this telescope over similar models is that it provides a correctly oriented "terrestrial" image, meaning that the up–down and left–right positions in the eyepiece correspond to reality. This means you can also use it for terrestrial observation – studying landscape details, tracking distant targets, and other activities. The optical elements are made of optical glass with a dual coating – an aluminium layer and a broadband anti-reflection layer. The first increases the telescope's reflectivity, while the second eliminates stray reflections and increases light transmission over a wide range of wavelengths (from UV to IR).

Alt-azimuth mount

The telescope sits on an alt-azimuth mount, which is attached to the included aluminium tripod. The mount is equipped with a large, ergonomic control handle with a practical locking mechanism placed directly under your hand, which makes aiming the telescope easier and more precise. You can also use the classic control method with two slow-motion control knobs.
