A couple of years ago, when the first generation of AirPods arrived on the market (2017), Apple once again demonstrated its role as a key technology innovator. Indeed, its headphones were truly wireless - no cable connects the two Apple AirPods, nor do they have any sticking out. In spring 2019, the company introduced AirPods 2 - the second generation of Apple headphones. Here's a look at what you can look forward to.
Apple AirPods 2019 have even more battery life compared to the first generation, thanks to the new and optimised H1 chip. Now you can enjoy up to 5 hours of music or 3 hours of talk time on a single charge. Just 15 minutes of charging is enough for another 3 hours of playback. And if you want more, the charging case can provide several more charges, bringing the total power supply up to 24 hours. You can expect significantly better sound quality as well.
The second generation of Apple AirPods connects calls 50% faster, switching between devices is 100% faster, and the overall response time of the headphones when gaming has been reduced by 30%.
Apple AirPods feature 2 charging options. If you buy this product, it comes with a charging case that wirelessly charges the headphones. But you have to plug the case itself into a power outlet with a cable. When you go on a trip and your case is charged, it also acts as a power bank - just insert the AirPods and they'll start charging. But if you prefer even more comfort, choose AirPods with a wireless charging case. It also has the addedbenefitthat you don't need a cable to charge the case itself, just the wireless Qi pad. You place the case on it and it starts charging wirelessly - and so do the headphones. The Qi pad is not included.
An infrared sensor recognises when Apple AirPods are safely tucked in your ear canal. So they only play when you're ready to listen. When you take them out, the playback pauses automatically. And because they're not wired in any way, you can easily use just one - it's all up to you.
Unlike the first generation, Apple's new AirPods support the "Hey Siri" voice command, so you don't have to tap them anymore. You can use your voice to control volume or switch between songs, for example.
Apple EarPods belong to the older, wired generation of headphones - you connect them to your phone with a standard 3.5mm Jack or Lightning connector. Both generations of AirPods, Apple AirPods 1 and Apple AirPods 2, are synonymous with completely wireless headphones.
