Vitamin B5 (Calcium D-pantothenate) contributes to normal mental performance and to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue. Vitamin B5 also contributes to the normal synthesis and metabolism of steroid hormones, vitamin D and some neurotransmitters. A member of the B-complex of vitamins, vitamin B5 is a water-soluble vitamin that helps to break down the carbohydrates, fats and proteins in food so that the body can use them. It occurs naturally in a wide range of meats and vegetables including broccoli, potatoes, mushrooms, poultry, dairy products and eggs.
