On-road chassis
To create the best drifting performance, Traxxas used the 200mm 4-Tec 2.0 on-road chassis. It has developed a new independent and adjustable suspension for it. Power from the engine is transmitted to the rear wheels—2WD drive. In addition to the hard compound tyres for surfaces like asphalt, a set of soft compound tyres for use on smooth surfaces is also included. The bumper and mounts have also been modified and the model now uses a modern clipless body with a licensed Ford Mustang look. In addition to the proven controller with three driving modes, a receiver with a specially modified algorithm for drifting has also been used. You can easily adjust the drifting modes and the intensity of the assistance in the app. For a smooth transition into a skid, the transmitter is equipped with a switch to activate the electric handbrake.
60° steering angle and drift modes
The 4-Tec Drift provides more than 60° of steering angle at full lock, allowing for large sideways drifts and quick transitions between them. The front suspension is specially tuned for drifting with steering knuckles, tie rods and links optimised for maximum range of motion. The model allows you to choose between three drifting modes, which can be fine-tuned using the Traxxas Link app. The innovative TSM Drift technology replaces outdated gyroscopes. Even novices can drift like professionals without special knowledge or skills, and advanced drivers will appreciate the fine control for even more precise steering.
Clipless body
The clipless Ford Mustang body excels in durability, ease of use and sophisticated details. The beautiful metallic paint contrasts with the plastic elements for a stunning look and modern Mustang style. The body mounts are neatly integrated into the moulded bonnet vents and rear spoiler for extra reinforcement and a clean look. The 4-Tec Drift rides on a new rear-wheel-drive platform based on the responsive 200mm 4-Tec chassis. The front suspension components are new to provide optimal drift geometry and a steering angle of over 60°. Drivers can also take advantage of the individual set-up options.
4-Tec 2.0 chassis
The Traxxas 4-Tec 2.0 chassis is made of a composite space-frame moulding (glass-fibre filled nylon) that is both lightweight and rigid. Everything has been designed to achieve the lowest possible centre of gravity. To simplify maintenance, the chassis is of a modular construction. The front, central and rear parts of the model can be easily separated. The 4-Tec 3.0 chassis effectively overcomes unevenness with oil-filled shock absorbers with exclusive X-rings that provide an excellent seal. The shock absorbers are adjustable—the spring preload can be changed using shims, you can adjust the viscosity of the oil in the shock absorber, or you can replace the springs with others of different stiffness. The installed extra-soft springs provide maximum weight transfer to initiate a drift.

- Adjustable battery holder—a quick-release battery holder with a dual height option accommodates a wide range of batteries—flat NiMH and 2S LiPo.
- Cable holder—the simple plastic cable-tie has been replaced on this model with a partition that defines a safe path for the cables.
- Waterproof receiver box—drift whatever the weather, the receiver is housed in a box with an O-ring seal and a foam cable grommet.
- Adjustable wheel camber—rear steel tie rods allow for easy suspension adjustment to fine-tune the handling characteristics exactly to your liking.
- 2WD drive—the rear-wheel drive is implemented directly by a transfer case (without a differential) with massive gears, 48DP module and 5° helical gearing.
- Powerful Titan 12T motor—the car model is fitted with a 550 series 21T Titan DC motor, modified for smooth and predictable performance over a wide speed range. The rotor at the rear of the motor includes an impeller that forces air into the motor and cools it effectively.
- Traxxas XL-5 electronic speed controller—Waterproof Traxxas XL-5 electronic speed controller with three driving modes, support for modern high-capacity LiPo batteries and easy EZ-Set button operation. The XL-5 controller is equipped with a training mode that limits full throttle to 50%. This allows novice drivers or children to gradually familiarise themselves with the model's features and prepare for the car's full power. Thermal protection, gold-plated connectors and incredibly low internal resistance are the hallmarks of this controller.
Accessories for normal operation
For normal operation of the Traxxas RC car, you will need screw glue, quality tyre glue, silicone shock absorber oil and a set of screwdrivers. The screw glue is applied to the thread or head of the screw to fix it in place, and the vibrations caused by driving will not allow the screw connection to loosen. The screw glue has a special composition that allows the screw connection to be easily loosened with an appropriate torque without damaging the screw head. Never use ordinary superglue, a screw glued in this way may be impossible to loosen at all.
Tyre glue is used to glue the tyres to the wheel rim. It is always necessary for the tyre to be firmly glued to the wheel rim all the way around. If the tyre is not glued all the way around, it may tear. Tyre glue has a special composition that is able to bond materials such as rubber or nylon and at the same time the glue is flexible after hardening.
Occasionally, it is necessary to top up the silicone oil in the model's shock absorbers. During normal operation, there are only minor leaks of silicone oil along the shock absorber piston rods. If the surface of the shock absorber piston rods or the condition of the seals is poor, the oil leakage can be significant. For these cases, so-called repair kits are supplied. In the range of tuning parts, piston rods with an extremely hard TiN (titanium nitride) coating are supplied for all shock absorbers. Piston rods with a TiN surface are easily recognisable by their gold-green colour.
