Preparation of the Aqua game: Life in the oceans
At the beginning of the game Aqua: Life in the Oceans you prepare a game plan by selecting six random ecosystems, that will form the basis of the underwater world. For each ecosystem, there are pieces of small marine animals that inhabit that biotope. Pieces of large animals, such as majestic turtles and elegant manta rays, remain sorted near the game board, waiting for the right moment to bring the underwater world to life. You shuffle all the coral pieces to form a face-down menu, with the number of available pieces always one more than the number of players. Each player then takes their starting piece, which represents the first fragment of their underwater kingdom. From there, your ecosystem will continue to grow piece by piece, coral by coral, in an effort to create the richest and most diverse environment for marine life.
Ecosystem formation process
The Aqua Game: Life in the oceans lasts a total of 17 rounds, during which you take turns to gradually expand your underwater ecosystems. Each turn consists of three phases,that require strategic planning and careful decision-making. First, you take one coral piece from the available selection, which always shows three corals of different colours, and add it to the already laid out pieces in your ecosystem. In order to place the piece correctly, you must ensure that at least one of the corals on the attached piece is adjacent to a coral of the same colour. If you manage to create a habitat, a closed hexagon composed of three corals of the same colour, you immediately place a piece of a small animal of the corresponding colour on top of it. But the game doesn't just stop at small animals. Once a specific grouping of animals has been created by attaching a piece that corresponds in shape to a large animal, it can be placed on top of the grouping. You choose the most valuable part of a large animal of a given species. Once all the turns in a round have been played, the coral supply is replenished and players continue to build their fascinating underwater worlds.
How many animals have you managed to assign to your ecosystem?
After playing the 17th round of Aqua: Life in the oceans ends and the final scoring follows. Players add up their points earned during and at the end of the game. Points are awarded for the small and large animals you manage to place in your underwater world. You will get additional points for creating coral reefs. Finally, you will receive points for meeting the scoring conditions of each ecosystem. Each ecosystem has specific requirements that you need to meet in order to earn bonus points for the assigned animals. After all points are added up, the player with the highest number of winning points is the winner.
