Cupping score

A cupping score is a quantitative assessment of coffee quality used by coffee industry professionals to determine the sensory characteristics and overall quality of coffee beans. The score ranges from 0 to 100 and is determined based on a number of factors including taste, aroma, body, acidity, sweetness, balance and resting experience. Coffees scoring above 80 are considered "specialty" and offer higher quality compared to regular commercial coffees. Higher scores reflect higher quality and uniqueness, with coffees scoring 90 and above being considered exceptionally excellent. Cupping scores are a key indicator for coffee selection among connoisseurs and industry professionals.
