The powerful low-profile heat sink, just 64mm high, is powerful enough for the new Intel® Core™ i7 and AMD Phoenom II processors. Thanks to this, it is very versatile, also suitable for space-consuming situations and it is also very light, its weight can be compared with the boxed processor coolers of the two major manufacturers. It has load speed control, so you probably only hear it at a higher processor load when the fan rotates up to 2,200 rpm. It is ten centimeters long, so it cools down via six copper heatpipe tubes.
The heatpipe technology is based on the closed tube principle, where at its "hot" end is a low boiling liquid that begins to evaporate with heating and in the gaseous state rises to a "cold" end where it condenses and returns to the wall of the tube in the liquid state. When heating the liquid, waste heat from the chip is used to change the state, and then, in the form of hot steam, goes to the opposite end, which has to be cooled to the temperature at which the steam condenses. In contrast to the conventional convention, heatpipe technology offers higher heat transfer efficiency, but only if the temperature difference between both ends of the tube and its correct orientation is sufficient.
