CES Innovation Awards Honoree 2026
At the cutting edge of your world, there's no room for error, and that's exactly what the Samsung Portable SSD P9 external drive is built for. The P9 series is the world's first to offer an 8TB capacity with a USB4 interface and transfer speeds of up to 4000MB/s, earning it a CES Innovation Awards Honoree 2026 for its professional design and next-generation performance. This 8000GB black version brings the same professional quality in a compact and easily portable package.
Design on the edge of perfection
The sharp lines and clean edges of the metal body elevate its construction to the level of craftsmanship. The angular body combines minimalist aesthetics with next-generation technology, and an LED indicator signals connection status and data transfer in real time. From the surface finish to the premium packaging, every detail of the Samsung Portable SSD P9 reveals meticulous workmanship.
Speed that changes your workflow – up to 4000MB/s
The world around you moves fast, and the Samsung Portable SSD P9 keeps up. Transfer an entire afternoon's worth of 4K RAW footage in minutes with the power of the USB4 interface featured on the Samsung Portable SSD P9. Sequential read speeds reach up to 4000MB/s and write speeds up to 3800MB/s, so you'll never be slowed down waiting for data to load.
Capacity up to 8TB
On set or in the field, a full drive is a problem you want to avoid. The Samsung Portable SSD P9 series offers capacities from 1TB up to 8TB, so you can choose the exact storage you need for demanding high-resolution video shoots. Direct recording lets you save footage straight to the drive the moment you press the record button.
Performance that lasts
Create without slowdowns, even under all-day workloads. Sustained high write speeds enable smooth direct recording, convenient editing directly from the drive, and seamless work with large RAW photos and high-resolution video. The Samsung Portable SSD P9 maintains its performance even under prolonged heavy use.
Data security comes first
Privacy is never an afterthought with this drive. Built-in AES 256-bit hardware encryption, along with password protection in the Samsung Magician software, prevents unauthorised access to sensitive data on the Samsung Portable SSD P9. This gives you reliable protection against data loss and the peace of mind that your files remain secure.
One moment, one chance
The most powerful stories are born in moments you can never repeat. When you don't get a second chance to get the right shot, you need storage you can trust completely, because a corrupted drive or slow data transfer can completely ruin a shoot. The Samsung Portable SSD P9 seamlessly integrates into both professional cinematography rigs and the mobile setup of an independent creator, eliminating worries about running out of space and speeding up on-set footage sorting.
Ready for extreme conditions
Long shooting days demand equipment that won't give up. Advanced thermal protection and a shock-resistant body keep your workflow fast and uninterrupted, even under load. The Samsung Portable SSD P9 can withstand drops from up to 2 metres and strong vibrations, offering reliability in any production environment.
Samsung Magician software for full control
An intuitive suite of optimisation tools in the Samsung Magician software unlocks the full performance of your portable drive. It protects your data, checks the drive's health, and downloads the latest firmware updates for your portable storage. You can manage everything through Samsung Magician's single, clear interface without needing deep technical knowledge.
When you have something to lose, choose certainty
All stored data is files or folders, but in reality, it's something more—something we don't want to lose. Photos, voice notes, videos, moments too precious to risk. It’s the lag that decides a win or loss in a game, the bragging rights of your creation, or the relief of never missing a near-missed opportunity. Whatever it is. If it matters to you, it matters. While others chase the next big thing, Samsung has engineered certainty—protection that gives you peace of mind, right when you need it. When you have something to lose, choose certainty. Choose Samsung.
