I knew what I was getting into, so just for those interested.
Forget about the APP for control, it's more of an emergency
- APP requires a Xiaomi account, as to start it was even for me relatively experienced enough hassle and lengthy, then immediately began to come unsolicited emails to Xiaomi and other products
- APP is pretty useless, doesn't work reliably with other home control (I tested Google Home)
I recommend just pairing with the APP, setting up the basic stuff and enabling the API - make the light communicate directly over LAN (WiFi) and add it to your HA (HomeAssistant) and then disable the MAC of the light to communicate out (personally I have a filter on all IoT stuff)
With HA the light works great, I control brightness, backlighting according to schedules and immediate needs - so far satisfaction.
Low light
Although plastic, good quality - so far holding
Adjustability (not with original SW)
More complex assembly
The brightness of the light when set to 1% still shines really high
Price not much
Control applications
The light permanently sends data somewhere to the net (I blocked it)
The light on at full power shines really strong, which is great. Its intensity can also be adjusted using the controller. You can purchase either the classic "Yeelight bluetooth" remote control or the "Yeelight Smart Wireless Dimmer". I definitely recommend the latter. It is battery operated (CR2032) and can be operated in parallel with a conventional wall switch. With a simple push of a button it pairs with the light (there was absolutely no problem with this), and then you can control the intensity, color temperature, switch between day and night light, or turn the light off or on (if you don't have it turned off using the main switch on the wall). The only complication occurred during its installation. The light needs to be clicked into the mounting "foot" with three spring-loaded beads. I recommend removing some sort of "wire fuse" (or whatever it is) from the packs before installation. If you leave them there, the light won't fit into the base very well and there is a risk of it falling out. If you take the wires out, the beads will slide out to the furthest possible position, so they click in nicely and the light holds well. To "un-click" the light, just turn it a little. A rather good gadget is also a steel cable, which is screwed on one side to the mounting base screwed on the wall and on the other side to the light fixture. When installing, you can then simply let go of the light and it will stick to the cable, which is really handy.
very strong lighting
possibility of intensity regulation
colour temperature adjustment
ideal in combination with the Yeelight Smart Wireless Dimmer (I can't get enough of it)
handy safety feature in the form of a steel cable that prevents the light from falling off in case it slips out of the mounting base
I had to work a little hard to figure out how to set the spring pawls to click the light into the foot
the assembly method, you have to remove the iron clips, but nowhere in the instructions do they tell you that. Without removing them, the light cannot be placed on the base. I don't understand why they're there at all, they serve no function and pissed me off.
