There are no alternative toners, only original toners can be used.
A toner low message is followed by a replace toner message and you cannot continue printing. It's gonna lock up!

Lightweight color printer with duplex and excellent connectivity at a reasonable price. If you do not need to print 1200 x 1200 dpi photos, then their 600 x 600 dpi is fully sufficient for corporate printing with high-quality color graphics.
I don't know of any so far.
