I'm surprised how much difference it makes (even real e.g. when copying) versus PCIe3.0
on the ASUS PRIME X570-P motherboard it goes without problems (BIOS v.3405)
compared to the Samsung 970EVO Plus 250GB I have a faster start of the computer/Windows10 so that I do not even manage to POS at boot properly display
it's a pity, that there was not at least a thin aluminum cooler in the package, there is only a sticker on the disk, but I was still surprised by the low temperatures - 36 at office/web, 45 at Lightroom (I have quiet low-speed fans about 400rpm 2x 12cm NOCTUA NF-S12A ULN one in and one out of the box)
I measured 7018 reads/5227 writes in CrystalDiskMark 8
except for the unattached cooler I have nothing wrong (but the disk in my case is not even extra warm)
I originally wanted a cheaper PCI4.0 500GB drive, but this 1TB is even a bit faster (has a bigger cache), so I don't mind the higher price in the end

WD offers a downloadable disk cloning program, so there was no problem to move the operating system
Although the speed is about 10x as fast as a 2.5" SATA SSD, the difference is hardly noticeable in normal use
