The Linux firmware for LTS and the latest version contains a bad version that is incompatible with this module. I recommend downloading the Windows firmware for the Asus BT500, pulling the *.dll with a size of around 40kB, renaming it to rtl8761bu_fw.bin and executing "zstd rtl8761bu_fw.bin". Move it to lib>firmware>rtl_bt and it will work fine.
