If you want the maximum speed of your NAS over the network, this is a necessary upgrade. My real experience: Card tested in direct connection with laptop (5GbE Realtek RTL8157 adapter). With Jumbo Frames (MTU 9000) enabled, the card handles a stable long-term transfer of 4.51 Gbps (approx. 560 MB/s in iperf) without any fluctuations. Efficiency is a huge surprise - even under continuous load (over 340 GB of data transferred in 11 minutes), the NAS card and USB adapter heated up only minimally. No thermal throttling or line crashing, as is sometimes said with multi-gigabit networking. Installation into a dedicated slot in the NAS takes a minute, and the system detects the card immediately. The price is higher, but the performance and stability are 100% worth it.
