I suppose that according to the reviews on Alza nobody picks this lens anyway, so just in short. The lens is fine, regardless of the focal length it is much better than the 50mm F1.8 from Sony. This one is a "flatter" lens and has a slow and noisy AF. It's pretty useless for video. Here, the AF is pretty fast and inaudible. The lens also focuses at close range. I like the programmable button on the side, but I find the AF/MF switch unnecessary - I already have a button on the camera body for this. And in the case when MF is clicked on the lens, I don't turn it off from the camera, so I don't use it. They could have put another programmable button instead. 35mm is such a middle ground. It's not really for shooting just faces - from this small distance the photo is already so distorted (like from a GoPro fisheye camera) I have another 50mm F1.8, which is great for portraits, but for such a regular photo it's terribly impractical to stand with the camera so far away (and it has that problematic AF). I also have a regular 28-70mm zoom, but there I only have F4-5.6 available. I think I'll be taking most of my photos with this 35mm now. I am attaching a completely random photo (F1.8).

razor sharp
fast smooth focusing
holds the eye unerringly when focusing
perfect even in lower light
low weight
very nice bokeh
price/performance ratio one of the best lenses
vignetting (but this may be a plus for some)
