A mobile or PC calculator is more accurate, has more features, and is almost or completely free, but it's not for everyone. I can't think of any other reason why calculators are still being made.
If I had noticed the "two way power" text on the solar power supply of my 20-year-old Casio MS-270LA in time, I probably would not have bought a new calculator, because all I had to do was change the battery and the yellowing Casio works as before. But at least I can compare.
The Rebell Panther 12 is new, with a slightly larger display and a few extra buttons. It even has an OFF button, which can mean either more power or a greener manufacturer.
The principle of both calculators is otherwise the same, and if the reliability of the Panther is the same as that of the Casio, I probably won't see a battery replacement.
In short, if you need to have a tool handy for checking store receipts and doing unpretentious home calculations at a reasonable price, Panther looks quite useful.
