The water can only be heated via the app, so you can't heat the water below 100°C without your phone. (So if your phone is dead and you want to have green tea - you can't). I don't know if it's just a defect in my piece or a problem with the whole series, I've claimed it, so I'll see.
It has the potential of a smart kettle, but the functions are rather limiting for the user (especially the non-functional temperature control): )
