I use the hair dryer for blow drying smoothly, I missed the styling attachment in this basic one, I had to buy it separately because I don't need the diffuser again. The weight of the hair dryer is invaluable when blow drying long hair, which takes a while. The first time I blew, I turned it on to the highest power and it was a bit of a shock because things in the bathroom were having an airplane day: -) Really rich enough to dry to the first degree of two. The alternating temperature mode is primo for blow drying my daughter's hair (it's waist-length), so it doesn't make the baby feel hot while drying great. I also like the location of the motor "vent" at the bottom of the handle, I had an older type of hair dryer, it had the motor vent at the back of the dryer and my hair got tangled in it.
