The shank is plastic, in the course of the first use and trying to drill about 20 balls (gradually of course) a tooth broke off, the second one is broken. If you are crushing 5-6 balls and you have the power, the sharp plastic edges of the upper and lower parts will safely grip your fingers as you go. The circumference of the shank is purely round, there is no place for the fingers to close. Moreover, the boilies get stuck at the edge and you have to poke them with a screwdriver, you can't get there with your finger and you don't have power in the small end. a useless product, absolutely.
For me so far the combinations are leading but these are the first 2 experiences with crushing; -) I'm going to buy something else
