When adding salt to the hopper, it is necessary to follow the instructions and use the hopper designed for this purpose and start the washing cycle immediately after adding salt. The surface of the interior of the dishwasher is treated to prevent corrosion of the shell. However, the added salt can cause a chemical reaction that will disrupt the surface of the casing and, with prolonged exposure, can cause local rusting just below the surface of the salt grain.
