According to the instructions, one of the percentage indicators should blink while the flashlight is charging to indicate how much the flashlight is charged If the flashlight is not connected or is damaged, the red warning light should come on. Neither of these happened with the battery connected or unconnected, and it clearly wasn't charging the battery.
