Based on AI's recommendation, I switched from an old slow Archer C6 router that did practically nothing, but was a hundred times better than this thing. Terrible. ASUS really failed to do that.
Nothing
Probably the worst router I've ever tested
They're going to unravel a hundred years old
Constantly lags and drops out

admin interface
update firmware online and for your mesh nodes at the same time
design like a Lamborghini
aimesh - easy to add mesh nodes to the network
a little bit weaker WiFi range - on one floor ok but when I am one floor higher the signal is weak (previous WiFi device had a greater range)

The router looks good on paper, but the reality is unfortunately below average for me. The ASUS website claims "80% more Wi-Fi coverage". I'd like to know, compared to what. Realistically, the signal reached about 6-8 meters through a 25cm brick wall. Support confirmed to me that the router only has 3 dBi antennas, so this is "normal". So if you want Wi-Fi only in the room with the router + one small one next door, OK. But a regular 60 m2 apartment doesn't cover it well. It seems more like marketing to get users to buy a second router and use AiMesh. I tried two pieces (new and used). In both cases I had the same problems. Wi-Fi speeds usually only 50-100 Mbps
(on other routers I normally reach 200-250 Mbps) LAN transfers max about 400 Mbps on home NAS
(other routers over 900 Mbps without problems) Stability is poor. Especially the 5 GHz network drops out frequently Tested on 3 phones, 2 laptops and a tablet. Same results.
I spent long hours with ASUS support, gradually turned off AiProtection, QoS and other features, but no improvement. Support then claimed that the speed was affected by "radar detection" which doesn't make sense because there are no radars in our town or surrounding towns and other routers don't have problems near me. I was also disappointed that the AiProtection Pro features are not automated in any way. The logs are just stored and the user has to manually check them for suspicious activity. The average user will probably never use it.
Nice web interface
AiProtection Pro
Option to have multiple Wi-Fi network
Czech support
Extremely short Wi-Fi range, antennas are only 3 dBi
Very slow Wi-Fi
Poorly working with storage connected via USB to the router
No OpenWrt support
Frequent speed problems when transferring in a local network over LAN
The AiProtection Pro, aside from Trend Micro and IPS protection, contains virtually nothing that other routers don't have, so the whole list of cool stuff is exaggerated.
LAN cables are hard to remove. Whoever suggested that the bottom of the router on the back be extended did not think about practicality at all. With cables that have covers on the end caps, it's a problem to get your finger that way.

The worst router I've ever had in my life, for the last half a year it's been demanding when it likes. And no, it's not gone completely, but suddenly I can't get anywhere on the wifi on my phone. Then it's okay. for a while some applications are crashing, then on the PC (cable connection) communication via discord works but the web is not going anywhere (timeout). It's not the net, I have verification from the provider (optical connection). I'd kick myself for buying it.
