AMD has announced a new line of desktop processors at the CES 2018. It is a new Raven Ridge series, that combines four Zen generation CPU cores with the latest, most advanced 'Vega' graphics technology in a single chip. The AMD Ryzen 3 2200G processor will not only become a popular choice for less demanding multimedia homes, but also a perfect solution for a custom build PCs without a need for a standalone graphics card.
Same as the preceding Ryzen processor, the Ryzen 3 2200G is based on AMD's Zen microarchitecture and is fabricated on a 14nm process. As a result, the cores operate at a base frequency of 3.5GHz with a TDP of 65W and a Boost frequency of 3.7GHz. The main advantage is a massive use of SMT technology, similar to MultiThreading technology, which ensures smooth processing of two threads per core.
Furthermore, the integrated Radeon RX Vega 8 processor graphics, with 512 stream processors, delivers fast, smooth and fluid performance on the games you love to play.
The AMD Raven Ridge series, same as Ryzen, is designed for the new AM4 socket, so chances are that in addition to the processor itself, you may want to invest in a new motherboard and possibly some DDR4 memory with a maximum frequency of 2933Mhz. This hefty investment is well worth it if you want to enjoy a range of integrated advanced technologies the hardware offers, such as USB 3.1 (USB-C), PCIe 3.0, NVMe, 32Gb/s M.2 slots or SATA Express.
