The following is not a defect of the device, just a warning for those making a selection. some older TVs probably can't handle HDMI input and need a SET TOP Box with SCART interface. I was buying two devices neither of which we ran on our LG TV via HDMI, but the other device also had SCART and that ran fine afterwards.

Only the small display, which can be reduced in brightness, is visible
It works with the TV, so when you turn off the stb, the TV turns off and vice versa
