I've had the monitor for a few days, but I've studied the reviews and tests. Having experienced several IPS/VA panels, I was very surprised by this mini LED. Although it is IPS based, it has decent contrast even without dimming, with dimming (medium) the black is really black, however it is not OLED. Thanks for the mini LED's blooming around the lit areas due to the zones. Blooming and overall uniformity is significantly worsened when viewed from an angle. I only enable HDR (Game HDR) in games with native HDR. Local dimming generally medium, in games OFF. Scenario mode: standard, Color space: original, color temperature always warm. Response: fast. Freesync ON. Others according to preference.
24.5" mini LED (dimming zones)
HDR 600 nits
300Hz 8bit / 240Hz 10bit
no or minimal smearing (IPS)
clear OSD
price versus OLED
blooming with local dimming (the tax of mini LED versus OLED)
weaker contrast (IPS)

The monitor wouldn't allow me 300Hz over HDMI 2.1. a cable that I bought in the past. So I used the included DP 1.4 cable, and everything works fine with it. I've tried the "UFO" ghosting and response tests via the Blurbusters site, and everything seems fine. Ghosting at 300Hz does appear in the tests, but it is really minimal (I had to watch closely to notice it). I didn't notice anything untoward in normal use.
Excellent colours, well calibrated from the factory
Solid construction
Minimal ghosting in UFO tests
The display is matte, but you can see more daylight from the window. But unless you plan to have the monitor facing the window, this is not a problem.

Sharpness at 6 combined with gamma 2 seemed most reasonable on my particular panel, but in e-sport titles, sharpness 7 is no longer out of the question. Also, it can vary from piece to piece. Towards the east it is sold rebranded as Ffalcon F6, if anyone wants to track down more tests and measurements.
QD layer works - if you don't have an OLED panel next to you, the contrast will positively surprise you even without local dimming on
Compared to VA panels, it does not suffer from smearing when moving in dark colors (viewing angles are not an issue)
The panel response at higher frame rates doesn't lag, the panel can easily keep up with it, so there's no need to sacrifice 60 Hz just for cleaner motion (ahem. AOC. )
Input lag stays below 3.50 ms at the maximum frequency according to foreign tests, mostly at 3 ms
"Standard" local dimming settings are usable and non-intrusive even in less optimised or less suitable games, videos and movies
On such a small diagonal, 180 dimming zones are perfectly adequate
TCL is using the most advanced Mini LED technology yet seen in a monitor in its 2025 range, or so it claims on its website - but it shows. After the so-called. "haloing" (haloes behind light objects on a dark background) hardly a trace, if one sticks to the "Standard" settings and does not look for them purposefully. TCL claims that their Mini LED zones are placed closer together and closer to the panel. There's something to it.
Backlight changes are relatively quick and usable in story games. For some specific scenes in movies and cutscenes, you'll see that intermediate step when you set the "Medium" and "High" settings, but it doesn't take as long as it did on older monitors with this technology
In use, the permanently lit status LED is positioned well back out of the user's field of view
The lower the monitor is on the included stand, the more stable it is (so instead of hanging it on the VESA arm, I recommend lowering the monitor to the lowest level on the included stand and buying a shelf/riser)
Anti-glare surface is tolerable - not like the spilled milk on some older 240+Hz Asus and Alienware IPS models
OSD doesn't offer an option to turn off the stand-by LED in the control joystick on the monitor's chin - it still breathes white for a while after going to sleep, then switches to a less piercing dim/diffused red
For the more avid gamer, it lacks any overdrive and/or low input lag mode (BUT it does offer a black stabiliser comically named "Dark Part Brightening": D)
Does not offer USB service = without warranty intervention you will not update the firmware and thus not get potentially better optimized dimming, nor for example the possibility to turn off the status LED
Unfortunately, it uses PWM for standard non-local dimming at a frequency that didn't suit my eyes (I can tolerate QD-OLED, W-OLED and CRT) - according to one Spanish test, the PWM flickering is most similar to the AOC Q27G3XMN monitor, but it's not as bad as the Xiaomi G Pro 27i. But it's not the same. That's why I recommend at least giving this monitor a try, as this combination of IPS, QD and Mini LED is a familiar one if your eyes can handle it while not yet being spoiled by higher resolutions with higher PPI values
