How it works
Easy Walk™ Harness is designed to gently discourage your dog from pulling when walking on a lead. It is so simple – it fits well and is easy to use. It requires only a very short acclimation period and no special technique. Unlike traditional harnesses, Easy Walk™ Harness never causes coughing, gagging, or choking because the chest strap stays low on the breastbone, not on the sensitive tracheal area. Traditional harnesses actually encourage dogs to pull on the lead due to their natural reflex to pull against pressure. Easy Walk™ harnesses feature a unique chest lead attachment system that effectively stops your dog from pulling and directs their attention back to you.
Using the harness
Easy Walk™ Harness is designed to gently discourage your dog from pulling when walking on a lead. If your dog starts to pull, gently pull the lead to the side and turn your dog towards you. When they stop pulling, make sure to release the pressure on the lead. Use praise and reward your dog with treats and/or praise. If you want to slow your dog down when they pull ahead, apply gentle pressure to the lead and pull gently towards one side of your dog. Release the pressure on the lead once your dog is walking nicely by your side.
Fitting the shoulder strap
- Open the quick-release buckle on the belly strap
- Place the shoulder strap over your dog's head and the chest strap across your dog's chest
- Adjust the shoulder strap so the connector ring sits on top and behind your dog's shoulder
Fitting the belly strap
- Tighten the shoulder strap so you can fit only one finger underneath it
- When the entire harness (shoulder and belly straps together) is fitted correctly, it should resemble a vertical line
Correct fitting of the chest strap
- Tighten the shoulder strap so you can fit only one finger underneath it
- When the entire harness (shoulder and belly straps together) is fitted correctly, it should resemble a vertical line
- When fitted correctly, the chest strap will sit horizontally across your dog's breastbone, parallel to the ground and without sagging
- Attach the nylon lead to the D-ring
General guidelines for training your dog with the harness
Easy Walk™ Harness is designed to make walking your dog more enjoyable and "pull-free". If you decide to run with your dog, make sure the harness is fitted correctly to prevent chafing on your dog's skin. Check the harness fit regularly, especially on growing dogs. Regularly inspect the harness for signs of damage. Do not leave the harness on your dog unsupervised. We do not recommend using Easy Walk™ Harness with a retractable lead. The goal is for your dog to learn NOT to pull on the lead, whereas a retractable lead only allows them to pull further, effectively rewarding them for doing so.
