EasyWalk Harness, Black S
Key features
- Easy Walk™ Harness features Quick-Snap buckles on both the shoulder and belly straps to make fitting the harness quick and easy
- Soft but strong nylon and four adjustment points maximise harness comfort
- Complementary belly strap colour makes it easy to identify individual straps while keeping the overall look coordinated, letting you quickly see which strap goes over the shoulders and which runs under the belly
How it works
The Easy Walk™ Harness is designed to gently discourage dogs from pulling on the lead. It fits well and is easy to use, requiring very little acclimation time and no special technique. Unlike traditional harnesses, the Easy Walk™ Harness never causes coughing, gagging or choking because the chest strap rests low on the breastbone rather than the sensitive tracheal area. Traditional harnesses encourage dogs to pull on the lead due to their natural reflex to pull against pressure. EasyWalk™ harnesses feature a chest lead attachment point, which effectively stops the dog from pulling and directs their attention back to the owner.
Using the harness
The Easy Walk™ Harness is designed to gently discourage your dog from pulling on the lead. If your dog starts to pull, gently guide the lead to the side and turn them towards you. As they stop pulling, make sure you release the pressure on the lead. Use praise and reward your dog with treats and affection. To slow your dog down when they pull ahead, apply gentle pressure to the lead and pull gently towards one side. Release the pressure when your dog walks nicely by your side.
Fitting the shoulder strap
- Open the quick-snap buckle on the belly strap
- Place the shoulder strap over the dog's head and the chest strap across the chest
- Adjust the shoulder strap so the connecting ring sits high up and behind the dog's shoulder
Fitting the belly strap
- Tighten the shoulder strap so you can fit just one finger underneath it
- When the entire circumference (shoulder and belly strap together) is correctly fitted, it should resemble a vertical line
Correct fitting of the chest strap
- Tighten the shoulder strap comfortably so you can fit just one finger under the strap.
- When the entire circumference (shoulder and belly straps together) is correctly fitted, it should resemble a vertical line.
- When fitted correctly, the chest strap sits in a horizontal position, resting on the dog's breastbone. It should be parallel to the ground and must not sag.
- Attach your nylon lead to the D-ring.
General guidelines for dog training with the harness
The Easy Walk™ Harness is designed to make your walks together more enjoyable and pull-free. If you decide to run with your dog, make sure the harness is fitted correctly to prevent chafing on the dog's skin. Check the fit of the harness regularly, especially on growing dogs. Inspect the harness regularly for any signs of damage. Do not leave the harness on your dog unattended. We do not recommend using the Easy Walk™ Harness with a retractable lead. The goal is to teach your dog NOT to pull on the lead, and a retractable lead only allows them to pull further, rewarding them for doing so.
