Each lens consists of several groups of lenses, only one of these groups being in the internal focusing (IF), the advantage is the small lens size. Thanks to Quick Shift Focus, you can switch focus mode from AF to manual by turning the focus ring. The lens is waterproof and dust-resistant. Moisture and dirt are the enemies of good electronics performance and exceptional optics, and the protective seal prevents water and dust corruption.
