About Agarikon

Agaricon is a mushroom that has been used in Europe since ancient times. It is a disease-causing woody fungus that grows in the northern hemisphere, mainly in the higher regions of Europe (e.g. in the Alps, Carpathians), Russia, Canada, Asia, etc. It mainly attacks larch trees and produces persistent fruiting bodies that can be more than 60 cm long. Their shape resembles a hoof or a column. The mushroom is not poisonous, but due to its consistency and taste, which is quite bitter, it is not used in the kitchen. The English name is derived from its bitter taste, as people thought it contained quinine. The spicebush can be dried and crushed into powder, use the pieces for decoctions and teas, etc. It has been used for millennia, and has also been found in a 5,000-year-old mummy that was preserved in ice. Because of its bitterness, the medicinal verpanic was used as a substitute for hops in the production of beer in Slovenia. In traditional Chinese medicine, Agaricon is used for its taste to clear Re (heat) and Shi Re (damp heat). Thanks to this, it can detoxify and purify the body. Like other mushrooms, it supports the Wei Qi (defensive energy) of our body. Thanks to its tropism towards the centre, it can also promote healthy digestion.
