Zdislava and the lost relic
Procurator of King Premysl II. Otakar Oldřich of Chlum and also the administrator of Bezděz Castle is responsible for the investigation and punishment of throat crimes in the region. This time he is dealing with the theft of the thorn from Christ's crown; of a precious relic, which Havel of Lemberg has acquired and intends to donate to the Church of St. Vitus in Prague. The crime was committed just two days before the arrival of the King, who is due to attend the consecration of the relic, so the whole affair threatens to be quite an embarrassment. In a short time other crimes were committed - the murders of the landowner Jan of Střelč, the chaplain of Lemberg and the goldsmith Ruprecht of Jablonné. Are these crimes related or not? And what about the alleged rape of the goldsmith's wife? Are a Danish envoy and a French nobleman involved in the crimes? Who and why is killing the cat pets of Zdislava from Lemberk? Although Oldrich of Chlum is pressed for time to solve all the crimes quickly, he traditionally does his job really well.
