The moon is being bathed in blood. The thirteenth case of Harry Hole.
Harry returns home from Los Angeles, where he tried in vain to drink himself to death. He is being pursued by debt collectors and has the murder of two young women in front of him. A well-known real estate tycoon is accused of the crime. If Harry finds the real killer within ten days, he will save several people at once.
As a private investigator, he assembles a team of renegades: a corrupt police officer, a psychologist dying of cancer, and a former taxi driver who sells cocaine. Time flies like crazy, the killer is always one step ahead, and the bloody full moon is inexorably approaching.
