The Gardener's Year of Karel Čapek
The Gardener's Year by Karel Čapek (1890-1938) includes the texts of his columns from 1925 to 1928, which he published in the newspaper from the experience he gained while establishing his own garden. They are about the joys and sorrows of gardeners during the four seasons and in all weathers. In them, Karel Čapek describes his own experiences, feelings and impressions of gardening with humour and personal insight. These columns were first published in Lidové noviny, the intention to publish them in book form is documented in 1927 and they were first published in book form in 1929.
