XML technologies

This unique publication, which responds to the rapid development of the subject in recent years, provides a comprehensive introduction to XML technologies with special attention to XML databases. The book is aimed mainly at professionals using XML technologies in applications, but even beginners will find the necessary introductory material in the book. Extensive space is devoted to languages for describing and processing XML data, such as XML Schema, XPath, XSLT, and XQuery, which is used to query XML data in XML databases. The authors describe the different types of repositories for XML data, as well as the SQL/XML standard that enables integration of XML data and relational database data. The reader will also become familiar with the methods of XML data compression used in their storage and transmission. Following the model of conceptual modeling of relational databases, the publication responds by presenting the original conceptual model.
