Matej Barbarič, a notary in Štiavnica, is searching for the daughter of the castellan of Sitnian Castle, who mysteriously disappeared during the night. His comrades Stein and Jarosh are not available, so Barbaric embarks on his first independent investigation. Where is the end of the beautiful Verona? Was it an escape, a kidnapping or even murder? A notary faces a mystery that defies solution. Moreover, the year is 1599 and the castle is home to a well-armed garrison. But the Turk is brandishing guns! The situation is complicated by the presence of a beautiful noblewoman and the fact that the castle walls hide another mysterious inhabitant. The complex case involves not only the notary's amorous outburst, but also the castle's bloody past, rumours of an enchanted underground army and bandit treasures.
