In the terrifying darkness of a distant universe, there is nothing but pain, blood and death.

The year is 2320. From the ashes of a scorched Earth, the United Solar Federation was born thanks to an immortal leader called the Scarecrow, and the only place it could expand to was the infinite universe. But no one knew what horrors lurked in its depths.
When one of the outposts on the edge of colonised space goes silent, a unit of combat clones - including newly promoted Corporal Jan Jansen - sets out to investigate. They have the weapons, the training and the experience and there is nothing they can't handle. Well, almost.
After an uncomfortably close encounter of the third kind, Jansen is left alone and without hope of rescue aboard the LSSF cruiser Deimos. The radio is silent, the air fills with toxic fumes and acid burns through the decks. There's no need to mention that the ship is stuck in the gravitational field of a black hole.
Can it get any worse? Corporal Jansen will soon find out that it is. Perhaps the black hole is not at all what it appears to be, and a threat lurks in its darkness that mankind has never encountered before...
